Privacy Policy
Utilo (the "Site") is a free collection of online tools that you use without an account. This policy explains what information is handled where when you use the Site, and what you can choose or delete.
1. Summary
- There are no accounts or logins, and the Site does not ask for information that identifies you, such as your name or contact details, except email you choose to send.
- Text and numbers you type into a tool, and files you choose, are processed only in the browser on your device, and this site does not transmit them.
- Some tools keep your entries or settings in your browser's storage on your device for convenience. That information stays on that device.
- The Site shows Google AdSense ads. Google and its partners use cookies and advertising identifiers to show ads, and may show personalized ads.
- When you open a page, the hosting service (Vercel) and the font delivery service (jsDelivr) receive connection details such as your IP address.
2. Personal information we collect
The Site does not ask you for, or collect, personal information such as your name, email address, phone number or date of birth. If you enter a name or a birth date into a tool, the value is used only for the calculation in your browser and is not passed to the operator.
Other services do receive the following automatically while the Site is delivered to you. Sections 6 to 8 explain each one.
- Advertising: the address of the page you visit, IP address, browser and device details, cookies and advertising identifiers, and ad views and clicks (Google)
- Hosting access logs: IP address, browser details (user agent), time of the request and the page address requested (Vercel)
- Font loading: IP address and browser details (jsDelivr)
If you email contact@useutilo.com, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.
3. Why it is used
- Advertising data: used by Google to show ads and measure them. The operator only sees the aggregated reports that Google provides.
- Hosting access logs: used to deliver pages and to deal with errors and abusive traffic.
- Font loading: the Site uses this service to display the font on screen.
- Emails: used only to reply to you and to check the problem you reported. Section 11 explains how they are handled.
4. What you enter into tools, and your files
Every tool is JavaScript that runs in your browser. The text and numbers you enter, and the photos, videos and documents you choose, are read and processed only in the browser on your device, and this site does not transmit them. Converted files are downloaded on the same device.
To show ads, Google's ad script also runs on each page. The Site's own code does not send what you enter into a tool, or your files, to anyone, including Google, except that the lunch picker's map links pass the chosen menu name to the map service when you click them (section 9).
5. Browser storage
Some tools keep information in your browser's storage (localStorage) on your device so that you can pick up where you left off. It stays only in that browser on that device, is never sent to the operator, and does not appear on your other devices. The Site's own code does not set cookies. This is what is stored, by purpose:
- Display settings: the display mode you chose (light, gray or dark), your list of favorite tools, and the bookmark toggle in the header
- Name lists: the last list of names or items you entered in the wheel, team splitter, order picker and random name picker
- Sound effects: whether sound is on or off in the wheel, ladder, random name picker and dice
- Tools on the Korean site store similar things: names and nicknames already drawn (to avoid repeats), favorite emoji, text being written in the character counter and spell checker, the last values entered in the salary, freelancer tax, VAT, career, exchange rate and travel budget tools (the travel budget tool also keeps the currency and rate settings it shares with the exchange rate tools), unit converter favorites, timer and pomodoro settings, and the lunch picker's settings and history.
Tools that work with files (GIF makers, image resizer, PDF converters, documents to PDF and so on) do not keep your files in storage.
How to delete it: clear this site's data ("cookies and site data") in your browser settings, and all of the above is removed. Several tools on the Korean site also have a switch to turn off auto-save or a button to delete what they saved.
6. Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)
The Site includes the Google AdSense ad code on every page except the 404 error page. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and advertising identifiers to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to show you personalized ads.
You can read how Google uses this information at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
If you do not want personalized ads, you can:
- turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings;
- opt out of personalized ad cookies from other participating vendors at aboutads.info;
- block or delete third-party cookies in your browser settings, and reset your advertising ID or limit ad personalization in your phone's operating system settings. The tools keep working if you block cookies.
The consent process that applies to visitors from the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland follows Google's policies.
7. Hosting access logs (Vercel)
The Site is hosted by Vercel Inc. When you open a page, Vercel keeps standard access logs, such as your IP address, browser details, time of the request and the page address requested. These logs are kept under Vercel's own policy, and the operator does not try to identify you from them.
8. Font loading (jsDelivr)
The screen font (Pretendard) is loaded from jsDelivr, a public CDN. While the font files are downloaded, your IP address and browser details are passed to jsDelivr and its delivery network.
9. Links to other sites
Some tools link to other sites. These links open in a new window only when you click them.
- On the Korean site, the restaurant search button in the lunch picker opens a search on Naver Map, Kakao Map or Google Maps, and the chosen menu name is put in the address as the search term, so that map service receives it.
- The outside checker links in the Korean spell checker open fixed addresses (an outside checker's front page, and a Naver search results page for the words "spell checker" in Korean), and your text is not passed along.
Other sites handle information under their own policies. The Site's Korean front page carries a Naver site-ownership tag (a meta tag), which sends no information to Naver.
10. How long information is kept
The only personal information the operator keeps is email sent to the contact address. Emails are kept only as long as they are needed to reply and to check a report, and are deleted one year after the request was handled. If you ask, they are deleted sooner. Information in browser storage stays on your device until you delete it. Information received by the advertising, hosting and font services is kept under each company's policy.
11. Sharing, service providers and transfers abroad
The operator does not sell or give your personal information to anyone. To deliver the Site, however, the following service providers outside Korea receive connection details directly from your browser. All three receive them automatically, over the internet, when you open a page.
- Google LLC (United States) · Purpose: showing and measuring ads · Data: page address, IP address, browser and device details, cookies and advertising identifiers, ad views and clicks · Retention: under each company's policy · How to refuse: turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings, or block ad requests or cookies in your browser · Google Privacy Policy
- Vercel Inc. (United States) · Purpose: hosting the Site and delivering pages · Data: IP address, browser details, time of the request and the page address requested · Retention: under each company's policy · How to refuse: this is needed to open the Site at all, so it cannot be turned off; contact the operator with any questions · Vercel Privacy Notice
- jsDelivr (public CDN service) · Purpose: delivering font files · Data: IP address and browser details · Retention: under each company's policy · How to refuse: block requests to cdn.jsdelivr.net in your browser and the page falls back to a default font · jsDelivr Privacy Policy
Email sent to the contact address passes through a mail-forwarding service before it reaches the operator's mailbox, so the sender's address and the message are processed by the forwarding and mailbox services. The operator keeps the sender's address and the message, uses them only to reply, and deletes them on request.
Send any question about these services, or a request to stop processing, to contact@useutilo.com.
12. Deletion
Emails are deleted from the mailbox one year after the request was handled, or sooner if you ask. Nothing you enter into a tool, and none of your files, is stored on the Site's server, so there is nothing else to delete. You can delete browser storage yourself as described in section 5.
13. Your rights and how to use them
- You can delete information stored in your browser at any time, by clearing site data or with a tool's delete button.
- You can turn off or limit personalized ads in Google Ad Settings, at aboutads.info, or in your browser and operating system settings.
- To see, correct, delete or stop the processing of an email you sent, write to contact@useutilo.com.
- For information that Google processes, you can use Google's own privacy controls.
14. Security
The Site is served over encrypted HTTPS. It is built so that what you enter and your files are not collected on the operator's server, which keeps the amount of stored information to a minimum.
15. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that an email came from a child under 14 without a parent's or guardian's consent, we delete it. A child under 14 who wants to email us should do so together with a parent or guardian.
16. Person responsible for privacy
Privacy contact: the Utilo operator (contact@useutilo.com)
The Site does not collect personal information such as names or contact details from visitors. The only exception is email that you choose to send to the address above. It reaches us through a mail-forwarding service (section 11), is used only to reply to you, and is deleted on request. Please send any privacy question or complaint to that address.
